What is Diabetes?
Diabetes is termed as a metabolic disease that takes place due to change in blood sugar levels. The blood sugar level changes due to inability of body in secretion of insulin. Diabetes is characterized as a chronic disease that is controllable but lasts forever. Moreover, change in normal sugar levels is the sign of diabetes.
Types of Diabetes
Diabetes is further divided into two parts:
- Type 1 diabetes
- Type 2 diabetes
Type 1 diabetes: It is termed as juvenile diabetes. It is usually a situation where a human body stops to produce insulin. People suffering from this take help of artificial insulin.
Type 2 diabetes: In this situation, a human body changes the way of using insulin. The body produces insulin but the cells becomes fail to use it. It is the most common type of diabetes that affects the people.
Diagnosis of diabetes
The diabetes is generally confirmed by the following tests:
- A fasting glucose test is done for your blood sugar levels. This sugar level sample is taken in morning before you eat something. If diagnosis results in 126mg/DL or higher, it means person is affected from diabetes.
- An oral glucose tolerance test is also another method for checking the diabetes. Under this process, a person is given a drink contains glucose then sugar level is tested for every 30 to 6o minutes continuously for 3 hours. If blood sugar level is 200mg/ DL or goes higher at 2 hours, it means the patient is suffered from diabetes.
- The A1C test is a normal blood test that shows the normal change in blood sugar levels for past 2-3 months.
If one is diagnosed with diabetes, he / she should consult with doctor for diabetes treatment. Since diabetes cannot be cured own, so it is advised to take medication from doctors. Besides these, there are various steps that can be followed to control the diabetes. Regular exercise, changing diet, and weight reduction can help you to cure diabetes naturally.
